🚨The Johnston administration is doubling down on continuing to misuse safe streets funding in Denver’s 2027 proposed budget. Tell your city councilperson that you will not stand for this in the final adopted budget!🚨
Mayor Johnston released his proposed 2027 Citywide Budget recently, and he STILL thinks he can get away with misappropriating funds that are supposed to be dedicated to safe streets capital improvements. How much is he siphoning away from bike lanes, crosswalks, and other safety improvements to pay for parking operations, you ask? $8.9M!
Before the City Council budget proposal workshop on Thursday, October 8, we’re demanding that Denver find a different way to pay for parking operations. When they head into that meeting, they’ll know this is an issue that matters to their constituents.
But it doesn’t stop there! To make sure this never happens again, City Council also needs to amend the ordinance that’s allowing this to happen. Say no to loopholes and tell Denver to deliver the safe streets and multimodal improvements they promised!
