Pam has lived in Montbello for decades. She’s mom to two grown children and foster mom to 11 more. She’s the Director of Montebello Walks. And she’s an advocate for safe, equitable streets.

An avid walker, Pam began to notice the dilapidated or nonexistent sidewalks in her neighborhood. One spot was especially notable: the Swamp, referenced so because the sidewalk-less area would flood regularly, forcing people walking out into the street and flow of traffic. Pam wasn’t settling for that! She organized a walking tour of Montbello for city and state officials. Her efforts were successful: the Swamp now has 10-foot-wide, ADA-accessible sidewalks, new plantings, and way-finding signage to the nearby RTD stops. During this process, Pam learned learned about the Denver Streets Partnership. She credits us with providing her the information, ideas and strategies that have helped her navigate the city’s system. And while Pam continues to advocate for Monbello’s needs, she finally feels supported knowing that the Denver Streets Partnership is working together with her to get results for her community.
