You may have noticed some changes on Denver’s Shared Streets on E. Bayaud Avenue, E. 11th Avenue, and E. 16th Avenue: traffic calming upgrades like traffic circles, signage, and more. In response to continued community demand, the City is extending the Shared Street initiative through the 2020-2021 winter season and installed new traffic calming configurations and materials to improve safety. The City acted swiftly to implement the Shared and Open Streets after a 2020 Denver Streets Partnership survey revealed Denverite’s strong desire for more space to walk, bike, and roll while social distancing. We applaud the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) for acting quickly, and we also recognize that there is room for improvement.
