Montbello
We partner with neighbors and neighborhood organizations in Montbello to improve the pedestrian environment and foster strong community ties.
Designing communities that prioritize people means elevating the voices of those who know their neighborhood best: residents.
We support Montbello
One of the earliest developments in northeast Denver, Montbello is one of Denver’s historic neighborhoods. True to its name, the area boasts incredible mountain views. We’re proud to support Montbello residents in their pursuit of safer streets and better access to jobs, parks, and schools.
Montbello residents are champions of their neighborhood
Local leaders with Montbello Walks, Montbello 20/20, and Montbello Organizing Committee are fierce advocates for their community. Their hard work recently came to fruition with the Montbello FreshLo Initiative, a multi-million-dollar economic development initiative that will feature a grocery-anchored cultural hub with affordable housing. This is a transformative effort that will uplift and revitalize the neighborhood. It is our pleasure to support community leaders in Montbello as they continue to make their neighborhood safer and better for everyone.
Improving transportation is a community priority.
Improving access to reliable transportation options is a central part of the effort to revitalize the Montbello community. Local leaders have advocated for safer and better transportation options for years. We love pitching in where we can with pop-up events, sidewalk audits, and stakeholder meetings.
Pam's Story
Every day, Pam takes a walk along the streets of Montbello. As somene who grew up there, she has experienced how difficult it can be to take a walk in her neighborhood.
Pam doesn’t walk alone. She walks with friends and family. She walks with young ones who want to go play in the park. She walks with neighbors who have disabilities and must travel in the street because the sidewalks are in disrepair. She navigates the wide roads, narrow sidewalks, and unsafe crossings that prevent many Montbello residents from walking to the park, bus, school, or the neighbor’s house.
As a leader of Montbello 2020 and Montbello Walks, Pam has been working hard to bring attention to the pedestrian safety issues in Montbello for years. She got a big win in 2019, when CDOT and the City and County of Denver finally installed sidewalks on Peoria Street under I-70. “Montbello has waited 53 years for this,” Pam said. “It feels like the vision for a healthy community with more freedom to travel is finally starting to come true.
Pam didn’t stop there, though. She’s still walking for other improvements, advocating for her community on her own two feet.
