We are pleased to launch the next round of Micro-Grants to support community leaders in projects that support active transportation and community health!
The Denver Streets Partnership is proud to present the Denver Micro-Grant program in partnership with the Community Active Living Coalition (CALC). The program is sponsored by Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure in partnership with the Denver Streets Partnership and the Trust for Public Land. This fall, we will grant $45,000 to Denver organizations and residents to promote and increase access to walking, biking, and safe spaces for outdoor physical activity.
We will fund projects up to $1,500 that support work in walkability, bikeability, or access to safe and healthy spaces for physical activity. Applications open on August 2 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis until September 30 or until funds are fully spent.
We are looking to fund projects that promote active transportation and physical activity. We encourage organizations, residents, and businesses to think creatively about your community’s needs and resources to create a “quick win” project that makes it safer, easier, and/or more fun to use active transportation and be active in Denver.
Example projects (and what funds could cover):

Walking, biking, or transit tours or education programs (signage, supplies, safety gear)

Community art projects such as murals (paint, materials, artist stipend)

Neighborhood walk/bike delivery services (bike baskets, rolling carts)

Community clean-ups (safety gear, trash bags, supplies)

Programming or placemaking in public spaces (chalk art, signage, outdoor activities)

Who is eligible to apply:
Any individual or organization within the City & County of Denver is eligible to apply for the Micro-Grant. Previous recipients of CALC Micro-Grants are still eligible for different projects or different phases/components of a project.

Individuals may apply for up to $400, to be distributed via gift cards OR direct purchase of materials.

Organizations or Businesses with a valid W-9 may apply for up to $1,500, to be distributed via a purchase order or invoice. Organizations should expect to receive a 1099 for their micro-grant funds and prepare your expenses and taxes appropriately.

Project Requirements:

Project must be located within the City and County of Denver.

Project leads must monitor current Colorado and City & County of Denver public health orders regarding COVID-19 and follow best practices to maintain health & safety throughout their project, including up-to-date requirements on vaccination, mask wearing, and/or social distancing.

Project must be completed by October 31, 2021, including completion of post-evaluation survey and photo documentation.

Preference will be given to projects that serve a high-need community or vulnerable populations.

Applications are graded consistently on a rubric that can be found here.

Every project is designated a grant officer to help you deliver a successful project and meet these requirements.

What we cannot fund:

We cannot fund perishable or non-perishable food items.
-
We cannot fund personal hygiene, cleaning supplies, or single-use items (including masks, hand sanitizer, disposable gloves).

We cannot fund any project that would go against or lead to individuals failing to adhere to current public health guidelines or current local/state/federal laws.

We cannot fund projects that would install any unpermitted furniture or infrastructure that would impede local traffic in the Right-of-Way.

We cannot fund projects that do not relate to physical activity, transportation, or the built environment.
