Transit Promotores

Transit Promotores is an 8-week certificate program for bilingual (Spanish/English) Latinx community members that builds on your lived experience and community connections and gives you the tools and group-learning opportunities, experience, and connections to expand and mobilize your coalition around transit advocacy.

Mobility advocacy spaces often lack Latino/a voices, even though many Latino/a community members rely on and care deeply about high-quality transit, safe mobility connections and accessibility. This program is designed to change that by supporting participants to become public transportation advocates and connectors within their communities.

You’ll learn alongside other community leaders in online, in-person, and on-the-street classes, completing assignments while helping shape the program itself. Together, you’ll build skills to mobilize your network and influence real decisions, such as RTD’s bus network redesignand the Speer Blvd/Leetsdale Blvd/Parker Rd study for Bus Rapid Transit, this fall and beyond. And you’ll have fun!

Together, we’ll learn about:

  • The history of transportation, mobility justice, and inequity in the Denver region
  • Who makes decisions about public transportation and how to influence them
  • The most effective strategies for advocating for better transit options as an an individual and community, including harnessing social media, working with the press and elected officials, and bringing decision-makers to experience the issues themselves

At the end of the program, you’ll receive an Advocacy Certificate from the Denver Streets Partnership (DSP). As a member of the Transit Promotores Program Alumni, we hope you’ll become a liaison between DSP and your network within the Latino community, helping to empower more folks to become advocates for better public transportation!

There is no cost to participate. $1,200 stipends are available for participants who complete the program.

This program will be offered in Spanish and English. If you speak only English, consider applying for our other fall program, the Advocacy Academy.
