The role of public transit is to serve everyone. Transit and transportation equity has played a prominent role in Denver’s history, from the legacy of the pre-WWII streetcar system to the 1975 “Gang of 19” protest to voter approval of the FasTracks rail expansion program in 2004. Today, the COVID-19 pandemic is highlighting the importance of transit for essential workers, creating enormous fiscal challenges and raising questions about how transit can best support the health and resiliency of communities.

As a lifelong bus rider and cofounder of the Cincinnati Better Bus Coalition, Cam Hardy is well equipped to present on the critically-important role buses play in society. Founded in 2017, the Better Bus Coalition is an advocacy group working to fix public transit in Cincinnati. In just three years, they have already won significant improvements for Cincinnati residents including the installation of bus-only lanes, upgrading dozens of bus stops, and the passage of a $100+ million municipal levy for transportation investments. Their inspiring success demonstrates that smart advocacy can make a difference!

Following his keynote presentation, Cam will be joined by a panel of local speakers including Eulois Cleckely, Executive Director of DOTI; Shontel Lewis, RTD Board Director; and others to discuss the future of transit in a post-COVID world.

Cam’s exciting keynote will kick off the 3rd Annual Denver Streets for People Summit on Wednesday, 9/16 – register for the conference and see the full agenda below!
