In February, the City and County of Denver will announce a new shared bike and scooter system. David Sachs at Denverite wrote a detailed piece about what is public knowledge so far. Our Executive Director, Jill Locantore, was interviewed for the story, and had this to say:
We need to be providing bigger and bigger spaces for micromobility. Skinny little bike lanes can be problematic if there’s not enough room for people to pass each other, going different speeds in those bike lanes.
There is no form of transportation that pays for itself without some subsidies from the government. And so if we believe that micromobility should be an option that’s available to them, then we need to subsidize it just like we do everything else.
