Last year, 93 people were killed on our streets. In almost every year since 2016 (when the City promised to make real progress on street safety goals through Vision Zero), the number of fatalities has only gone up. 2025 was the highest yet.
The 3-1-1 Day of Action for Safe Streets builds on the momentum of our recent Mayor’s Report Card. The Denver Streets Partnership, along with a number of other groups, graded the administration a “D” for its lack of meaningful progress on multimodal transportation and road safety. On March 11, we’re turning that frustration into visible, coordinated people-power.
The main event: A Die-In for 3 minutes & 11 seconds at 3 p.m. downtown
At 3 p.m., 93 people will lie down one by one as we briefly share the story of the person they represent. Then we’ll hold 3 minutes and 11 seconds of silence.
We need volunteers to:
- Sign up to represent one of the 93 people killed
- Volunteer as a backup
- Or simply show up and stand with the crowd
This is about bringing humanity into a conversation that too often gets reduced to infrastructure diagrams and budget line items. Representing someone is a powerful act of witness, and we need as many people as possible to step into that role.
You can also join the crowd in solidarity. A strong, visible presence also speaks volumes.

The lead up: A Walk & Roll to the Die-In
Pedestrian Dignity is leading a Walk & Roll starting at Alameda & Federal. The group will walk, roll, and take transit along major corridors, experiencing conditions and hearing stories from nearby residents. The last leg of the journey will take the group to the City & County Building in time for the Die-In. Attendees are welcome to join or leave at multiple stopping points along the way.
This activity is about visibility, solidarity, and reminding the City that real people are moving along our most dangerous streets every day.

Can’t attend in person or just want to do more? Be part of this coordinated push for accountability ON MARCH 11 by:
- Filing a 3-1-1 street safety report using our step-by-step guide
- Sending an editable email to City officials through our pre-filled email form
- Donating in 3-1-1 amounts ($3.11, $31.11, etc.) to fuel our ongoing advocacy
This day is about accountability, empowerment, and visibility. These lost lives are not forgotten, and ours are not expendable.
